In the fast-paced world of real estate, stress and hustle are par for the course. But for one local Realtor®, unwinding doesn’t mean spa days or long vacations – it means caring for & rocking newborns in the hospital nursery.

Meet Amanda Keeler, a seasoned real estate agent whose days often revolve around open houses, home inspections and closing deals. Now, with her own children grown and on their way out of the house, Amanda has found a new way to bring comfort and care into the world: volunteering in the nursery at CAMC Women & Children’s hospital.

“It started out as a way to give back, but it has become something much more personal. Holding, bathing and consoling babies in their first days of life-there’s peace in that for me. Within the next few months, I should reach the 1000 hours served and I am excited about that milestone.”

Amanda volunteers one scheduled day a week, donning her volunteer badge and stepping into a world far removed from the competitive housing market. In the nursery, she soothes fussy newborns, assists nurses & staff when needed, and simply offers a calm, steady presence for infants who might be spending their first days without family nearby.

“Some of these babies are born to mothers who need time to recover, or families who live far away. Just being there, offering human touch-it matters.”

“In real estate, I help people start new chapters in their lives. Here, I get to witness the very beginning of life itself. There’s something grounding about that. This isn’t just about what I give. They give me a sense of peace, of presence. They remind me to slow down, breathe, and just be.”

Whether she’s closing on a dream home or calming a newborn in the nursery, Amanda Keeler has found her own version of fulfillment – one rooted in care, compassion and community.
