Welcome to 2025!

Dear WVAR Family,

This year brought accomplishments, challenges, and big steps forward for your Association. From legislative wins to educational milestones, WVAR has been on the move, creating opportunities and tackling obstacles head-on.

Starting with the 2024 Legislative Session—a resounding success! Thanks to strong relationships with lawmakers, we corrected the broker requirements in the law, supported positive WVREEC rule changes, stopped unfair long-term contract practices, and supported property owners with property they own but don’t occupy. Our daily Facebook audio updates and in-depth legislative interviews kept members informed every step of the way.

The WVAR Leadership Academy shined again, with the “Magnificent 7” class making waves at local, state, and national levels. Meanwhile, the revamped State Leadership Summit at Stonewall Resort blended familiar faces with fresh voices, overcoming a surprise snowstorm to have a valuable and engaging experience.

Education ran strong. WVAR remained the state’s top provider of in-class CE, hosted multiple GRI modules, quarterly virtual membership meetings and leveraged NAR grants to offer free ABR classes across the state.

Of course, we faced challenges, however, throughout, WVAR maintained integrity, choosing the high road at every turn.

On the event front, Amanda’s innovative planning brought new energy to meetings and activities. Local board management also expanded successfully, thanks to Emily’s steady leadership.

Professional Standards has adopted some more effective processes and major events like State Convention, REALTOR® Party Meetings, and NAR Leadership Summit exceeded expectations, building connections across the state and the nation.

Election and RPAC efforts delivered a nearly perfect success rate, driving key legislative wins for brokers, seniors, and property owners.

As we close 2024, WVAR and NAR membership numbers remain strong—defying negative predictions about mass exoduses. With trends pointing upward, the future is bright.

In 2025, focus on the partners who got you here. Stick with the values of professionalism, cooperation, and integrity. Together, we’ll rise above the noise. Happy New Year!
