Committee Responsibilities

Government Affairs Committee: The committee is responsible for developing, maintaining and utilizing lines of personal communications with members of congress, the legislature and state officials. The committee keeps the membership informed on legislation and encourages membership response on association concern, real estate law and appraisal law, coordinates with licensing agencies, and recommends improvement and/or change. They also must stay current on emerging issues and communicate them to the Government Affairs and Education Committees. Finally, the Committee determines means to reduce the risk of litigation against members and member firms.

Education Committee: The Committee is responsible for assistance in the administration of the West Virginia Graduate REALTOR® Institute, and to review policy and recommend changes or additional policy to the board of directors concerning the Institute. Additional responsibility includes providing members with training and education institutions in developing real estate programs for the public.

Convention Committee: The committee formulates all plans for theme, program and speakers for the annual convention.

Membership & Board Policy Committee: The committee is responsible for assistance in membership promotion and retention campaigns and evaluates performance of local boards in meeting minimum service requirements. The committee also reviews bylaws and recommends changes that may be appropriate.

WVRPAC Committee: The committee is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to solicit voluntary contributions from the members to be used for direct support of candidates for statewide and local political offices. The committee reviews election results, campaigns, issues and legislative voting records and then uses that information to make recommendations on where to direct financial support.

Public Relations Committee: The Public Relations Committee develops WVAR marketing goals and strategic objectives to raise public awareness of the role WV REALTORS® play in our communities and to gather and deliver news of the association’s work and value to our members.
