2024 WVAR President

Angela Mayfield is an Associate Broker at Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate Central (BHG REC) located in Charleston WV.

She has obtained multiple designations including Accredited Buyer Representative, Graduate REALTOR Institute, Certified Negotiation Expert, Pricing Strategy Advisor and At Home with Diversity, and several other designations and certifications.

Angela is very active in the real estate community. For over six years she has served on the West Virginia Association of REALTORS (WVAR) Board of Directors.  She volunteers for several WVAR committees and is the 2020 Chair of the Membership Board Policy and Jurisdiction committee.  She has served her local board of real estate in several capacities.  Her most recent role was the 2019 President of the Kanawha Valley Board of REALTORS.

She has been blessed with several awards including being named the 2019 REALTOR of the YEAR for the WV Association of REALTORS and the Kanawha Valley Board of REALTORS.  She has been recognized for years as a top producing agent for the company and was honored to be the number one producer in 2018.

Angela was appointed by the Governor to the West Virginia Board of Medicine to represent the public’s interest.  She is a Trustee on the Thomas Health System Board of Directors and a member of the Thomas Hospital Foundation Board of Directors.   She volunteers at numerous local charities.

2024 President Elect

Josh McGrath is a life-long resident of WV, an auto enthusiast, speaker, investor and entrepreneur. Josh started selling real estate immediately upon graduation from high school at just 18 years old.   In 2001 he formed a top producing team listing and selling real estate.   In 2005 Josh became the broker/owner of Real Estate Central in Charleston, WV.   Real Estate Central has now grown to 7 offices and 100+ REALTORS and is one of the leading Real Estate agencies in central West Virginia.

In June of 2020, during the Covid-19 Pandemic, Josh affiliated the company with Better Homes and Gardens Real Estate to become the first and only BHGRE company in the state! They have also received the Best in the Valley Award from the Charleston Newspaper for the past 4 years running!  Josh currently holds his license in West Virginia, Kentucky, Ohio and North and South Carolina.  Josh and his team founded the organization, REC Kickin’ Cancer and since 2011 has been raising money for agents fighting cancer, annually this event raises $15-20k.  As a two-time Local REALTOR of the year, 2007 and 2013 and past President of the Kanawha Valley Board of REALTORS Josh is serving as the Vice- President of the West Virginia Association of REALTORS. Josh has previously and continues to serve and chair multiple state and local committees.

In 2016 Josh was awarded the 40 under 40 award by the West Virginia State Journal’s Generation Next, the State REALTOR of the Year and represented West Virginia at the National Convention. Josh was named Young Guns Class of 2020 by the West Virginia Executive Magazine and then in 2022 was selected out of 1.5 Million REALTORS for the National Association of REALTORS Leadership Academy and serves on the Broker Engagement Council for NAR.  Josh is a huge advocate of RPAC and its importance to the REALTOR industry and is currently in the NAR RPAC Hall of Fame.  Josh loves traveling around the country Speaking/Motivating agents on Real Estate Success Strategies and spending his free time in Holden Beach, NC or Davis WV.

2024 WVAR Vice President

Alisa learned how wonderful West Virginia was after relocating to Morgantown from NY several years ago. Real estate has become an engaging career for Alisa since she started in 2014.  After many years of being a successful salesperson, Alisa is now managing multiple offices for Old Colony REALTORS.

Alisa has become very involved in the local and WV state REALTOR® boards. Whether it is being a member of or chairing a committee, or holding an office, she is always active in the professional community. Some of her contributing roles include MBOR local director and committee member/chair, WVAR state director and multiple WVAR committees member/chair, WVAR Leadership Academy graduate. She currently serves as the President of WV REALTOR Relief.

One of Alisa’s proudest achievements was being chosen as WVAR 2021 REALTOR® of the Year. She looks forward to continuing to serve her professional community and collaborate with her peers.

Melissa Hornbeck, Associate Broker is affiliated with Old Colony REALTORS and an award-winning REALTOR®. She has over 20 years in a real estate career spanning Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and her home state of West Virginia.

Melissa’s approach begins with the belief that each client and transaction is unique. From there, she focuses on competence, accountability, and ingenuity. Listening to her customers’ perspectives, clearly defining their expectations and aspirations, and guiding them accordingly is how she moves clients toward their happy endings.

With a gregarious personality and commitment to community, Melissa is highly respected in North Central West Virginia, in the real estate community, and beyond. She has served on local and state boards in both Maryland and West Virginia and is a multiple recipient of both National Sales Excellence and Quality Service awards.

2024 WVAR Treasurer

Paul Ashmore, a dedicated real estate professional, has been a proud resident of Wheeling, West Virginia, since 2004. With an extensive background in real estate spanning nearly a decade, Paul is a seasoned Associate Broker within the industry.

Having embarked on his real estate journey in 2014, Paul’s commitment to the profession runs deep. Notably, he shares a familial bond with the real estate realm, as he is married to Missy Ashmore, a respected 16-year veteran in the field. Their connection extends further through the family brokerage, which is owned by Missy’s parents, Bob & Dea Kennen and where her brother also practices as an agent.

Paul’s dedication to both family and professional excellence extends to his children. His son, currently pursuing Commercial Real Estate Finance at the College of Charleston while excelling as a cross country runner, embodies the family’s passion for real estate. Meanwhile, his daughter is making her mark as a sophomore at Wheeling Park High School.

His active involvement in real estate extends beyond the day-to-day tasks, as he diligently serves on various committees within the Wheeling Board of Realtors, contributing to the growth and success of the industry.

Additionally, Paul is a valued member of the Northern Panhandle HOME Consortium, displaying his dedication to community development and the well-being of the region.

When not engaged in the world of real estate, Paul enjoys his passion for disc golf. Since 1998, he has been an avid player, promoter, and teacher of the sport, exemplifying his commitment to both professional and recreational pursuits.

Paul’s multifaceted involvement in real estate, dedication to community service, and passion for family and recreation make him an invaluable asset to the West Virginia Association of Realtors and a stalwart advocate for the real estate industry in the region.

2024 WVAR Immediate Past President 

Toni Carone is affiliated with Long and Foster Real Estate with licenses in WV and VA and has officially been an active REALTOR® since 2005. She started her career working as staff for the Eastern Panhandle Board of REALTORS® in 2001 and completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Business/Marketing during that tenure.

Toni is a past President of EPBR and served as a WVAR director from 2006-2020. She has chaired the WVAR Convention Committee several times and recently served as Chair of the RPAC committee. Toni was on the task force to develop the WVAR Leadership Academy and became a graduate in their Inaugural Class. She served on the National Association of REALTORS® RPAC Major Investor Council in 2018 & 2019 and was appointed to the NAR RPAC Fundraising Trustee Committee as a Regional Representative for 2020-2021. She has been an RPAC Major Investor for several years, including being member of the RPAC Presidents Circle that consists roughly of 1400 REALTORS® Per Year.

Toni was previously named EPBR Rookie REALTOR® of the Year, EPBR REALTOR® of the Year and named WV Association of REALTORS® REALTOR® of the Year in 2015.In her spare time, she enjoys being a “cheer aunt” and traveling the country with all her REALTOR® family she has accumulative throughout the years of service to EPBR/WVAR/NAR.
